How To Grow

  1. Choose a container that is at least 8-12 inches deep with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
  2. Fill the container with well-draining potting mix, preferably with added organic matter for fertility.
  3. Select bush bean varieties for container growing, such as ‘Provider’ or ‘Bush Blue Lake.’
  4. Place the container in a sunny location where beans will receive at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
  5. Plant bean seeds directly into the container, following the recommended spacing on the seed packet.
  6. Water beans regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during hot weather.
  7. Mulch the surface of the container to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  8. Provide support for climbing bean varieties using stakes, trellises, or bamboo poles.
  9. Fertilize beans with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 3-4 weeks or incorporate a slow-release granular fertilizer into the soil at planting.
  10. Monitor for pests like aphids and diseases such as powdery mildew, treating promptly with organic remedies.
